Day 1

Arrival in Salalah

 

Your representative welcomes you at the airport and accompanies you to your hotel, marking the start of your wider Salalah nature and culture journey. After check-in, you can take the evening at your own pace, rest, explore the nearby streets, or enjoy a light walk as you settle into the rhythm of the city.

West Salalah: Springs, Cliffs & Coastline

Begin your Salalah Dhofar adventure with a west-coast route shaped by springs, beaches, and cliff viewpoints. The day moves through Ayn Sahlnoot Spring, then continues to Mughsail Beach with its long shoreline and natural blowholes at Marneef Cave. 

A quiet pause at Masood Hidden Beach adds a remote coastal touch before you follow the historic Frankincense Trail toward Esfalquot Cliff for wide Arabian Sea views. The scenic coastal drive back to town completes the route.

East Salalah: Waterfalls, Highlands and Baobab Trees

Explore eastern Salalah through a route shaped by green valleys and high mountain views along the Salalah mountains coast. You begin at Taqah Beach and Plateau, then continue to Wadi Darbat with its waterfalls and open valley scenery. The drive rises through the Qara Mountains toward the Jabal Samhan canyon viewpoint at 1,800 meters.

Your Salalah nature and history trip moves on to Wadi Hanna and its ancient Baobab trees, followed by a quiet stop at Ayn Haseer Spring. A short pause at the Anti-Gravity Point adds a simple, curious moment before returning to the hotel.

Desert Experience: Ubar and Empty Quarter

This part of your journey shifts into the deeper Salalah desert experience, beginning with a short stop in Thumrait, a traditional Bedouin town. 

From there, you continue to the Lost City of Ubar, often called the “Atlantis of the Sands,” before heading into the vast Empty Quarter for dune driving and wide desert landscapes. A calm sunset over the dunes closes the day before returning to your hotel in the evening.

The city tour moves through traditions, history, and cultural sites that shape the wider Salalah nature and culture experience. 

You begin at Sultan Qaboos Mosque, then continue to Al Baleed Archaeological Park and the Frankincense Land Museum. The route carries on to Al Husn Palace and Al Haffa Souq before ending the day at the coconut plantations for a fresh tasting experience.
